Most schools for students in kindergarten through high school (K-12) have policies that prohibit students from leaving the school grounds or campus during school hours. If students do need to leave the campus they will usually be required to be picked up by an adult (age 18 or older) who is on the student’s emergency contact list and who shows identification at the time of pickup.

For a doctor or dentist appointment schools may require a note from the health care provider for the student’s absence to be excused.

In Florida, K-12 schools typically have policies in place that prevent students from leaving school grounds during school hours without proper authorization. If a student needs to leave campus, for instance for a medical appointment, they are generally required to be picked up by an adult who is at least 18 years old and listed on the student's emergency contact list.
