In some states, a domestic partnership is a legally recognized relationship between members of a same-sex couple, with rights similar to those of a marriage relationship.
As of my knowledge cutoff in early 2023, Arkansas does not legally recognize domestic partnerships. The state does not offer a registry or legal status similar to marriage for same-sex couples under the term 'domestic partnership.' Same-sex marriage, however, has been legal nationwide since the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015, which means that same-sex couples in Arkansas have the right to marry and thereby obtain the same state and federal benefits as opposite-sex married couples. Prior to this ruling, Arkansas had a constitutional amendment banning the recognition of same-sex marriages, but this amendment is no longer enforceable due to the Supreme Court's decision.
