§160.2. Establishment of the Louisiana Access to Better Care Medicaid Insurance Demonstration Project
A. The secretary shall submit a waiver request to the United States Department of Health and Human Services to implement on a limited basis and serving a portion of the Medicaid eligibles, the Louisiana Access to Better Care Medicaid Insurance Demonstration Project.
B. The purpose of the demonstration project is to provide a more cost-effective means of providing health care coverage for certain medical assistance participants or eligible individuals by providing those participants or individuals with a choice of purchasing private health insurance, high deductible catastrophic health insurance, or a benefit payment schedule plan, or enrolling in a managed care plan. One of these health care service programs shall be purchased with state funds from an account in the name of the participant or other eligible individual.
