§ 5-67.1-1. Registration required. (a)(1) The town of North Smithfield may, by ordinance, require each person, persons, corporation, partnership, or other business organization that is physically located in the town of North Smithfield and is operated for profit, to obtain a registration certificate stating the name under which the person or persons, corporation, partnership, or other business organization is conducted or transacted, its business address, and a specific description of the business activity. Any person, persons, corporation, partnership, or other business organization already licensed by the town of North Smithfield, and that is working within the purview of the license issued by the town, shall be exempt from the registration requirement under this chapter.

(2) The registration certificate shall be filed with the town clerk by March 15, 2005, together with a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) filing fee. In addition, there shall be the general requirement that a registration certificate shall be renewed annually by December 1 of each calendar year together with a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) filing fee beginning December 1, 2005.

(b) No ordinance passed pursuant to this section shall take effect until thirty (30) days after its final passage.

(c) Any ordinance passed under this section shall be deemed as retroactive, in its application so that it applies to each person, persons, corporation, partnership, or other business organization already transacting or conducting business from any situs in the town.
