§ 45-24.1-2. Historic district zoning authorized. In order to carry out the purposes of this chapter, each city and town has the authority to establish, change, lay out, and define districts, which are deemed to be of historical or architectural value, in the same manner as those cities and towns are presently empowered to establish or change areas and classifications of zoning.
