§ 42-60.1-7. Enforcement and penalty. The director shall cause periodic inspections to be made of distributors or retailers of new appliances in order to determine compliance with this chapter. The director shall cause investigations to be made of complaints received concerning violations of this chapter and shall report the results of those investigations to the attorney general. The attorney general may institute proceedings to enforce the provisions of this chapter. Failure to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute an unfair or deceptive act under the provisions of the consumer protection laws of the state. Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall be punished by a civil penalty of not more than two hundred and fifty dollars ($250). Each violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense, and each day that violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
