§ 36-8-5. Vacancies on board. If, for any reason whatsoever, there shall be a vacancy in the office of an appointed member of the board the appointing authority shall appoint a successor within seventy (70) days for the balance of the vacated term; provided, however, that all gubernatorial and general treasurer appointments made under this section after July 4, 2006 shall be subject to the advice and consent of the senate. If, for any reason whatsoever, there shall be a vacancy in the office of an elected member of the board the seat shall be filled by a new election of the respective group within seventy (70) days for the balance of the vacated term.
