Notwithstanding the provisions of NRS 388A.249, 388A.252 and 388A.255, the State Public Charter School Authority may adopt regulations establishing timelines and procedures by which the State Public Charter School Authority will review applications and the board of trustees of a school district that is approved to sponsor charter schools or a college or university within the Nevada System of Higher Education that is approved to sponsor charter schools may adopt policies establishing timelines and procedures by which the board of trustees or college or university, as applicable, will review applications. These regulations or policies may:

1. Establish different timelines and review procedures for different types of applicants; and

2. Authorize or require an applicant to submit an abbreviated application, the contents of such an application and criteria that the State Public Charter School Authority will use to determine whether to invite the applicant to submit a full application that meets the requirements of NRS 388A.243 and 388A.246 or deny the abbreviated application and recommend that the applicant make substantial revisions and submit the application during another application cycle.
