198B.470 Annual inspection -- Exemptions. (1) Except as indicated under subsection (2) of this section, every passenger elevator, freight elevator, moving sidewalk, fixed guideway system, and escalator shall be inspected once every twelve (12) months. (2) The following shall be exempt from the annual inspection requirements of subsection (1) of this section: (a) Material lifts; (b) Grain elevators; (c) Mine elevators; (d) Stage elevators; (e) Orchestra elevators; (f) Organ console elevators; (g) Elevators and lifting devices solely in residential buildings used by the occupants of a dwelling unit, except where the lifting device is used or accessible by the occupants of more than one (1) dwelling unit; (h) Freight elevators on the licensed premises of a distillery licensed under KRS 243.030(1); (i) Non-federally regulated, funicular fixed guideway systems; and (j) Passenger elevators, freight elevators, moving sidewalks, fixed guideway systems, and escalators installed in federal properties and projects.
