(70 ILCS 1240/1) (from Ch. 105, par. 115) Sec. 1. When any park district organized under the provisions of any general law of this state and which park district shall lie wholly within the limits of any city within this state, shall have acquired any lands for park purposes, and the board of commissioners of such park district shall find such park district unable to maintain or improve such lands or any part thereof, or that it is inadvisable so to do, it shall be competent for the board of commissioners of such park district to convey the said lands, or any part thereof, to such city, to be held and maintained by such city for park, playground and neighborhood center purposes. Before such conveyance shall be made the board shall certify the proposition to the proper election officials who shall submit the proposition at an election in accordance with the general election law, and if a majority of the legal voters of such park district who shall vote on such proposition shall vote in favor thereof such conveyance for such purposes shall be made by said commissioners, provided the city council of said city shall by ordinance passed within ninety days after such referendum agree to accept such conveyance of said lands for such purposes. (70 ILCS 1240/2) (from Ch. 105, par. 116) Sec. 2. The board of commissioners of such park district shall give notice of the referendum as required by the general election law.
