Section 8-218e - State financial assistance for provision of technical assistance and management training.

The state, acting by and in the discretion of the Commissioner of Housing, may enter into a contract with the community housing development corporation, as defined in section 8-217, which has been specially chartered by the General Assembly pursuant to section 8-218f, for state financial assistance in the form of a state grant-in-aid to enable such corporation to provide technical assistance and management training in the financing, acquisition, construction and rehabilitation of housing, as defined in said section 8-217, to families (1) whose incomes do not exceed eighty per cent of the median household income for the area in which the families reside and (2) who wish to establish limited equity cooperatives, as defined in section 47-242, or housing cooperatives in which persons participate in the construction or rehabilitation of their own dwellings. Any such grant shall only be made to said community housing development corporation if it has resources from other sources in an amount equal to or greater than one hundred per cent of the proposed grant. Such other sources may include, but shall not be limited to, other governmental agencies, the private sector, private foundations and charitable organizations.
