Section 32-6j - Assistance of Labor Commissioner in job-training activities.

In the assessment and provision of job training for employers, the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development and the chief executive officer of Connecticut Innovations, Incorporated shall request the assistance of the Labor Commissioner. Upon receipt of a request for job training pursuant to this section, the Labor Commissioner shall notify the president of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, or his or her designee, of such request. The president, or his or her designee, shall determine if a training program exists or can be designed at a regional community-technical college to meet such training need and shall notify the Labor Commissioner of such determination. The Labor Commissioner shall to the extent possible make arrangements for the participation of the regional community-technical colleges, the Connecticut State University System, other institutions of higher education, other postsecondary institutions, adult education programs and the Technical Education and Career System in implementing the program. Nothing in this section shall preclude the Labor Commissioner from considering or choosing other providers to meet such training need.

History: P.A. 96-190 effective July 1, 1996; P.A. 11-48 replaced “chancellor of the regional community-technical colleges” with “president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education” and made conforming and technical changes, effective July 1, 2011; pursuant to P.A. 12-116, “regional vocational-technical schools” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “technical high schools”, effective July 1, 2012; pursuant to June 12 Sp. Sess. P.A. 12-1, “Connecticut Development Authority” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “Connecticut Innovations, Incorporated”, effective July 1, 2012; P.A. 13-123 changed “executive director” to “chief executive officer”, effective June 18, 2013; P.A. 16-15 replaced “president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education” with “president of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities”, effective July 1, 2016; P.A. 17-237 replaced “state technical high schools” with “the Technical Education and Career System”, effective July 1, 2017.
