The Commissioner of Social Services may establish maximum allowable costs to be paid under the Medicaid and Connecticut AIDS drug assistance programs for generic prescription drugs based on, but not limited to, actual acquisition costs. The department shall implement and maintain a procedure to review and update the maximum allowable cost list at least annually, and shall report annually to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to appropriations and the budgets of state agencies on its activities pursuant to this section.
