Section 10a-150 - (Formerly Sec. 10-327b). Receipt and disposition of gifts of lands, money or other property.

The boards of trustees of each of the constituent units of the state system of higher education are empowered to accept, on behalf of the state, any gifts of lands, money or other property donated to the institutions under their control. Said boards shall direct the application, distribution or disbursement of such lands, money or other donated property, or the income therefrom, for any purpose connected with said institutions under their respective control, consistent with the conditions, if any, upon which the gift was created. The State Treasurer shall be advised of the receipt of any such gift of money and where practicable shall hold on behalf of the respective boards of trustees, any such gift of money or income therefrom. The approval of the Commissioner of Administrative Services and the State Properties Review Board under section 4b-23 where acquisitions of real estate are involved shall be required.

History: P.A. 77-614 and P.A. 78-303 substituted commissioner of administrative services for public works commissioner; Sec. 10-327b transferred to Sec. 10a-150 in 1983 pursuant to reorganization of higher education system; P.A. 85-597 added requirement that commissioner be notified of gifts which are subject to reporting requirements of Sec. 10a-150c; P.A. 87-496 substituted “public works” for “administrative services” commissioner; pursuant to P.A. 11-48, “Commissioner of Higher Education” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education”, effective July 1, 2011; pursuant to P.A. 11-51, “Commissioner of Public Works” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “Commissioner of Administrative Services”, effective July 1, 2011; P.A. 13-240 deleted requirement that president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education be advised of any gift subject to the provisions of Sec. 10a-150b, effective July 1, 2013.
