Current prepaid health plan and primary care case management contracts entered into by the department pursuant to Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 14088) and Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 14200) shall not be terminated solely due to the implementation of this article in areas served by prepaid health plans and primary care case management contractors. Upon expiration of these contracts, the department shall enter into good faith negotiations for one renewal of these contracts. These plans may continue to serve their Medi-Cal enrollees and to enroll new beneficiaries. Upon expiration or final termination of these renewal contracts and subject to compliance with all applicable requirements prepaid health plan and primary care case management contractors in the areas shall be allowed the opportunity to participate as new contractors under this article.
