Section 45-46-84.20 - License division created.

There is hereby created within the judge of probate's office of Marengo County a license division which shall issue all licenses heretofore or hereafter ordered to be issued through the judge of probate's office, except marriage licenses. The county commission shall furnish suitable quarters and provide the necessary forms, books, stationery, records, equipment, and supplies, except such stationery, forms, and supplies as are furnished pursuant to law by the State of Alabama or any other governmental agency. The county commission shall provide the necessary employees to staff the license division of the probate office. The county commission shall set the number of employees for efficient operation of the license division and shall set the salary for each position. The judge of probate shall have total authority to interview, select, and employ each person hired in the license division after the number and salary level has been set by the county commission. The compensation of all employees in the license division shall be paid monthly out of the general fund of the county in the same manner as other county employees are paid.
