Condensed, extracted glutamic acid fermentation product may be safely used in animal feed under the following conditions:
The additive is a concentrated mixture of the liquor remaining from the extraction of glutamic acid, combined with the cells of Corynebacterium lilium used to produce the glutamic acid.
It is used or intended for use as follows:
In poultry feed as a source of protein in an amount not to exceed 5 percent of the total ration.
In cattle feed as a source of protein in an amount not to exceed 10 percent of the feed.
In order to assure safe use, the label and labeling of the additive shall bear, in addition to the other information required by the Act, the following:
The name of the additive.
A statement of the concentration of the additive contained in any mixture.
Adequate directions for use.
